feels more like a big pile of loose notes (I would guess that for every O.N. With Evernote I just look for either the project or subject tag and don't care as much where it actually lives.Į.N. Like is that article attached in the project page or the general subject group. I have to sometimes struggle with the 'right' home for new info and know I'll have to rely on basic search (and remembering how I filed it). as a nice organized set of notebooks on the shelf organized by subject. Since you can make unlimited tag hierarchies, you don't have to limit your filing/discovery to a single hierarchy.
It also allows other global metadata stuff at the note level like setting reminders and you can do faceted search/filter based on different note attributes. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, haven't used E in a while). It lets you tag the note but I don't believe it can individual paragraphs within pages except the to-do checkbox. granulizes note data at the note level and de-emphasises keeping things under a single hierarchy. tagging isn't true tagging, more like keywording to aid search and clarify info that you are already looking at.Į.N. And forget even thinking about nesting tags or renaming them as a group. tagging and not as useful for aggregating your data around different tags. The best you can do to connect ideas to other locations is linking, which works well but is more labor intensive than E.N. Those tags are really more like keywords, yes you can do a somewhat faceted search with them but they are intended more for describing and highlighting your data within the location you put it. It's great at taking one sophisticated flow of information and displaying it just so, like a physical notebook. It's signature use case would be when you are actively typing-handwriting notes and tagging/formatting/annotating in-line. So you can have multiple objects (tables, charts, pics, attachments, sketches, etc) within a page all with unique tags and its superior at making that in-page arrangement pretty and intricate. O is better when organized under a single hierarchy and it granulizes data basically down to the paragraph level within pages. are organized around different philosophies.
